I def. started with light weights (lower than 200) when I first started back. I also was going much harder on the self-therapy to hopefully break up the scar tissue and was getting EMS 2+ times a day.
my bad i thought ur first squat workout was 2x4x225, second workout 2x3x275. im not saying that ur rehab plan was gold but ku2 has similar lower body strength has you and i think lower reps vs 10-12 is probably better in this case.
The days I did BW stuff I also did a light warm-up with squats up to 135 and I had done light RDLs as well, but the vol was low enough that it didn’t really cause much (if any) fatigue. The day I squatted @ 225 I warmed up very slowly to that and didn’t have the 225 number planned, but it was what I was ready for on that day given those circumstances.
Thats my point the athlete has told us hes ready to squat X number of lbs, so i dont see a major problem with him working up to 185-225 for 2-3x4-5.
Let’s just wait and see what happens. He doesn’t like what the PT tells him, but he isn’t doing anything to help the situation. No therapy or EMS thus far–let’s hope it was just very minor and he is lucky.
im sure he did some 7 vs 7 skill work today.
Nope, no 7on7 today. Coaches barely let me do anything.
Incline-worked up to 205x1
Thats about all I did. The dang coaches wouldn’t let me workout since everybody else was maxing out. Coach said “the more rest the better.” Come on, I’ve already rested it enough so I don’t understand why he would say that.
Tamfb, didn’t you say that you were able to do your normal workouts after 2 weeks?
my first two injuries took 9-10 days third injury took 17 days. you need to get out and run
Like what kind of running, Tempo?
not going there again, if you didnt read the info i posted then dont ask me anymore repeating questions. goodluck
My bad then. You mentioned that you had 3 injuries. Were they all different or the same?
Football stuff- Did NOTHING strenuous. All I did was do some catching drills that required NO sprinting.
Tempo
12x100yds on grass
30sec rest
Fingertip Pushups-3x20

Tempo felt good. My hamstring still feels a little tight and stiff.

Afternoon Workout
Ran routes full-speed. Felt great. Hands were just a little rusty, but my routes were pretty good.
I’m supposed to go to a camp at TCU this Friday to catch balls for the best QB’s in Texas.
So what’s the deal man? Hamstring good to go? How’s fb training going for you?
I heard he signed with TCU after during a great job at there camp.
I don’t know where to start… Ok, well after the trainer cleared me, shortly before the QB camp I re-injured my hammy by running a slant route. I’m not even sure if the injury is on the same spot. It feels higher than the first time I tore it. Its been about 5-6 weeks since I re-injured it, and I recently broke up some scar tissue. So far I’ve been doing tempo running and buildups on it, then I broke the scar tissue by doing some 10yd accels. Ive also worked up to some heavy squats having no problems with it. But ever since I broke the scar tissue, its been feeling all tight and sore.
Other than that, I’ve gotten bigger and stronger in my upperbody. I’m up to 177 right now, and still aiming for 185-190 because my primary position will be Rover and some RB. My bench has definitely gone up, the 1RM calculators say I bench 265-270.
I sure wish I could be doing some speed work right now. I still have no clue whatsoever when I will be back. I’m dying to get back out there to 7on7, my team really needs me. This stupid injury really depresses me, I’ve never been this depressed before.
Sorry to hear about the hamstring man. Again… a conservative approach is usually the best approach when you don’t have access to therapy in the like.
Well after I re-injured it, the trainer said that it could possible take up to 3 months! I’m guessing he said that because I don’t have access to any therapy. But now that I have some money to spend on my own stuff finally, I’m going to buy an EMS unit and a stick.
Get well soon!
Get your hands to work!
Like I said last time, take it slow. It sucks, I know, but you have to do it that way if you aren’t going to get adequate treatment. Even with good treatment, you should be conservative.
“Let’s just wait and see what happens.”
As I said, get some recovery before trying to push it even more. I’d get good therapy (note the good) on it before EMS, though EMS is very good as well.
