Running the 60 meters on Sunday

Looking forward to seeing how I do now that I have had a break and feel a little more rested

Still sick. Hoping I am feeling better by Sunday

Doing some oly lifts tonight and jumpsquats to fire up the CNS.

Cheers,
Chris

No race for me. Went to the doctor today and have a sinus infection and bronchial infection. 10 days of antibiotics for me.

I have been feeling sick for a couple of weeks and should have went to the doctor sooner. Hopefully this will clear up soon thoughā€¦

Havenā€™t posted in a while. I am recovering from my sinus infection and chest/bronc problem. going to run a meet on Sunday if I continue feeling better. (60 meter)

I feel pretty decent and rested but not super explosive. Hoping for something in the 7.50 range if all goes well

hey chris, i did one of your workouts 2x3x(abs, push ups, pullups). and added hip flexors

hell of a workout!

Cool  Glad you liked it!!

I also did the circuit workout today. For some reason 2 days ago I decided I was going to do something different today, as I was feeling a little stale with my old upper body routine. Then I saw Ericā€™s post and remembered I had seen some circuits earlier in your journal and looked them up. I did 2x3 (6 pullups, 12 pushups, 20 situps). Loved the work. That is definitely my type of stuff, I love work that makes you end up panting like a dog and tired/worn as hell. I think Iā€™ll begin to replace up to one upper body workout a week with the circuit. Great workout, thanks for the ideas! Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks

I ended up not running today. Still feel tired and my wife didnt want me to push it. Going to start heading back to the indoor track the middle of this week after I finish all the anitobiotics and look at starting a GPP again.

Need to get my base back up and get myself fit again. Probably going to be a slow process but itā€™ll work out.

Cheers,
Chris

If all goes well I can start training again tomorrow after getting cleared by the doc.

Getting closer!

First workout back in a long time.

Took it easy and just did fairly light weights

12 minutes on bike
3 sets hang snatch (115 for triples felt pretty good)

2 sets hang clean (155 but wrist was hurting so I stopped them)

3 sets single leg stepups to high box (155 for 5 each leg)

3 x (leg extension, ham curl, calf raise)

3 sets hanging leg raises

3 sets weighted incline situps

Good workout but am a bit tired now though. Going to take it easy tomorrow and then do some explosive stuff for the meet this weekend.

Cheers,
Chris

Second workout back

cycling/upper body/cycling

bike for 10 minutes

Then

4 sets bench (225 for double)
3 sets chins (sets of 8)
3 sets standing shoulder press (115 for 8 reps)
3 sets bicep curls (35 for 8 per arm)

10 minutes on bike

Not too bad a workout. Surprised I didnt feel weaker. Explosive stuff tomorrow then meet on Sunday (60m)

Cheers,
Chris

Running a 50m on Sunday. Getting excited about hitting the track again

3 sets hangsnatch (115 for triples)
3 sets squat jumps (135 for triples)

CNS is good and fired up. Meet on Sunday.

Iā€™ll post back with the results

Chris

Things feel pretty good for the meet tomorrow.

Got a decent nights sleep last night for a change and am going to rest up today. I am not expecting anything huge but hopefully run a pretty decent time. Also I was looking at the masters results so far for Ontario it looks like I should finish in the top 4 or 5 for the M30-34 group if things go as planned.

cheers,
Chris

meet results

Just got back from the meet and it went pretty well.

Ran the 50 meter and did it in 6.60 FAT. (they announced the time over the PA)

My start was pretty good but I was tight when getting up to top speed. I believe I finished 6th overall.

I was pretty happy considering I havenā€™t set foot on the track since before Christmas (December 13th I think?) and I am up to 203 pounds.

I think I can get down to the 6.40 FAT range for 50m if everything comes together for the Championships in March and I get my weight back down and some track work in.

Cheers,
Chris

20 minutes on the bike last night. Legs are pretty cooked from Sunday. Hitting circuits tonight after work

Well done Chris - great result

Thanks Gloop!

Hopefully I can squeeze out a 7.6 for 60m or so this weekend

cheers,
Chris

Today:

cycling/upperbody weights/intervals

7 minutes on bike then

4 sets bench (up to 215 for triple)
3 sets chins (6 reps per set)
3 sets standing shoulder press (115 for 8 reps)

12 minutes on bike doing ā€œsprintā€ intervals

30 seconds at low resistance 100rpm then 30 seconds at max resistance 120rpm. 24 sprints total

Heart rate stayed about 175 for the whole progression peaking at 185. Good hard workout. I felt stomach sick afterwards LOL

Cheers,
Chris

Iā€™m just looking forward to being able to run again

Thanks man

What is your current status training/running wise?

I am really looking forward to when the weather gets better and I can run outside. For some reason I LOVE GPP work outdoors
