Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on how to train for the high jump. I play basketball in the winter, and this year I’m planning to do track. I’ve never done track before and I’ve been told that I would be a good high jumper, what kind of training should I do to get better. I’ve been training with plyometrics for about 2 years and have a 250 squat base, with a 33"-34" vertical. Any help would be great!
I have seen on tv indoor world-champion Stefan Holm of sweden do sprint-training, including block-starts. I believe he is about 7.30 in the 60 meters. Most high-jumpers that I know of have some 60 and 100 meter times to their name, though they are known to be better at the hurdles.
The swedes on this forum ought to know a thing or two…
squats and speed… the form is secondary, as with anything else, i guess.
