Training for a miler

I want to become a fast miler.

What kind of workouts should I do, is the mile consider middle distance on these boards, or is it distance? Anyway curious to hear Charlie’s (and others on here) to mile training.

Welcome to the board. I think you’ll find the middle distances in general get pretty sparse treatment here. From the forum’s perspective, 4 and 8 are probably the middle distances with the mile being an epic long race.

Nonetheless, every miler should have some basic speed and there’s more info here as how best to develop that than anywhere else on the net, IMHO. Give that search feature some heavy usage and I think you can create a great speed program to add to your mile program. Also take a look at the Journals; a few of us are targeting the 800/mile and you could get some good ideas there, too.
