Thigh injury

I’ve been getting pain in my thigh for a while. The pain’s not that bad, but I can’t fully lift my leg without pain stopping me now.

To be specific, it seems like it’s in the sartorius or pectineus, or groin… I’m not knowledgeable about anatomy.

Likely source of injury is weight lifting. Any advice on what I can do to cure this?

I don’t think I’ll need a physio, doctor etc.

do some massage on your own on the affected area, start slowly with fingers, forearm, elbow, if needed and then ice it

see how it is the next day

also, if it’s on the front of your thigh, be sure to stretch your abs (cobra stretch)

i recently had sore sartorius, i was adviced to do these and have worked fine for me!

also, how did the injury come about? i mean, exercise, etc; and how long has it been like this? just to help others to help you…

hopefully others will come back with more specific advice!
Flash?

i’m having the same problem, only not so bad, it gets sore when i lift and hold my left leg in a static position, and im assuming its the sartorious or the tensor lascsae latae(spelling). It gets freaking sore and stingy pain when i do squats during warm up, but as i go heavy it numbs out and i feel fine as if i was healed, but those light transitions get to me. i’ll try the cobra stretch i usually do those after doing sprinter situps, but i have’nt gotten around to doing those yet, damn the laziness is coming back.

Never thought about an abs stretch, like the idea.

I got it weight lifting, I’m not sure if it was caused by squatting, or something else.

I’ve had it for months, but it hasn’t bothered me until now. It doesn’t feel serious.

Thanks for the advice (again), I’ll massage tonight.

I had an injury like years ago, got by over-stretching beyond a normal ROM. It affected me in that when I was doing speed days it would bother me the faster I would run, so I laid back for a couple weeks running @ ~60-70% of my max accel. I also got some physio (ultrasound) done to break up some scar tissue and it seemed to help.

Icing, Stretching and Hydrotherapy in the pool seemed to do the trick, but it did take sometime to heal fully. Have patience and keep on it.

Since I’ve been doing cobra stretches the pain’s gone, thanks Niko’.

When you did cobra stretches, did you do them lying stomach side down on the floor?

In yoga manuals, and classes I have attended, the cobra is always performed with hips in contact with floor.

Recently i’ve seen gymnasts doing the cobra, and bringing their heels towards their backside whilst stretching, I tried this myself and it caused my hips to lift off the floor, I guess this indicates tight quads and, or, hip flexors can anybody enlighten me on this?

Sorry, but could someone explain the cobra stretch more clearly, or direct me somewhere where it’s explained more clearly?
