Week-18 Monday
Workout: 3 mile warmup, 2x1200 3x800, 2x100(grass)
4:00,3:58, 2:27,2:31,2:36, untimed,untimed.
We went slow the first interval and had to pick it up quite a bit. The second rep we went out a bit harder, and were able to hold it with little problem IE: it felt faster, but was easier. The 800, I felt great. I relaxed my skull (can’t describe it any other way) and the pain in my head melted away. I was able to run faster. Only… I forgot my insoles… Ouch. My calf is pretty torn up right now, but I bought new shoes and I should be fine the rest of teh week. no big deal. I just missed out on an 800 rep and 4x200 reps.

I’m tearin’ up my calves without my insoles (even w/new shoes) so I’m not going to run until I get them or replacements.

Week-20 Tuesday
Workout: 5 mile run, 4 mile tempo, 1 milie cooldown
last two miles: 5:38, 5:30
We ran easy the first five out, then picked it up gradually the entire time for four miles, until at the end, only 3 guys were keeping the pace, and i was one of them. I was pumping my arms and legs hard and fast, but they weren’t gettin’ tired, and my lungs were fine too. I Just stayed relaxed and ran. I’m very happy with this workout.

Workout: 2 mile warmup, 3x1200@RP, 2x800@FTRP, 2x400@FTRP, 2 mile cooldown.
4:02(2:43), 4:02(2:43), 4:01(2:44), 2:28, 2:25, 68, 66
Very pleased with this workout. I was struggling the last 1200, but I pushed it a bit, and was able to work it fine. I got a bit tight the first 800, but I worked through it on the second one. The 400’s were easy cheesy lemon squeezy!
If I just relax from the top of my head, 3/4 of the pain I experience when I’m in oxygen debt/lactic buildup doesn’t bother me at all, and just slips away. I’m going to kill at CCS.

Yo, please forgive me if you have covered this before in your journal (I haven’t read all the way back), but are you doing any kind of weight training during cross country? Or, will that take place after XC in preparation for track season? If so, what’s your focus in the weightroom?
“…I’ve been to Georgia on a fast train, honey…I wudn’t born no yesterday…Got a good Christian raisin’ and an eighth grade educashun…ain’t no need in y’all a treatin’ me this way…”
