The Comeback

28 years old. I competed in my first track meet in a decade in early April of this year.

Unfortunately, I decided to compete despite a nagging soreness and tightness in my left knee and ran an 11.50. My last official 100 meters came my junior year of high school, at age 17, where I ran an 11.21.

I feel like I can better that time if I get healthy. I’ve got one more meet left this year - in two weeks - and I figure I’ll just ride the injury out until after that, at which point I’ll take a total break and rehab my knee for about 6 weeks before I start some offseason conditioning.

Saturday, April 27:

4xflying 20
1x60
1x80
1x120

Felt tight in knee, as usual. Also felt sick to my stomach and wound up puking.
Video analysis of my runs indicate that I’m striding a quarter meter longer with my right leg than my left leg. I’m not sure how normal this is.
The 120 was tough; I’m definitely lacking in the speed endurance department.

Sunday, April 28:

Rest day; corework and bodyweight exercises for knee “rehab.”
These are probably pointless since I’m still running.

Monday: April 29:

Tempo work - Big Circuit. Not bad.
