Tests in Soccer

Very well said!

I’ve seen this happen on a number of occasions ‘testing for testings sake;’ sometimes at the most perculiar stages of the season as well. Ok now we’ve done the testing what have we learnt? Some sport scientists I know seem to be testing mad, especially the lab based work. The athletes enthusiam prior and during the tests is great but after the tests they seem to be lost little souls wondering what impact this experience has / can have on their sporting performance.

Thanks Charlie,
Can you please define the difference between speed endurance, speed strength, strength endurance, and special endurance; and could you please give a few examples.

I do not feel comfortable with my understanding of these terms in a track (speed and power) context. It would greatly improve my understanding when I read the threads on this site.

What is OmegaWave? Link, please!
On my opinion, tests in soccer (to asses conditional level, not skill and tactics) should consists of four group:

  1. Aerobic testing (beep-tests)
  2. Speed-Agility-Quickness (poligons, zig-zag, etc)
  3. Special Endurance (ability to be fast for prolonged time, 7x30 with 15 sec rest for example)
  4. supplementary tests (jumping, throwing, lifting etc )

Look at http://www.charliefrancis.com/community/showthread.php?t=10809 (principles III - testing #5)

Looks very interesting… but do OmegaWave give what is suposed to give (reaction to stress and daptation proces evaluation)? Is there any critical analysis of this product? Anyone tried it?

I have been using it for more than 4 years.Be well assured it does so (and in a very affordable way),as well as opening up your mind and creating a whole new feeling of the training process management.
Moreover-and maybe I shouldn’t even say it-you should only see Charlie playing a bit with it,only to discover scenarios and perspectives you’re not going to find in any existing textbook,academic building,website,and even remote Soviet scientific literature on which the technology itself may be based…

But as I said in my earlier post:we’re here only to discuss what truly makes this technology (for interesting it may be) as well as possibly at least some of the protocols you’ve been proposing yourself,of any interest and usefulness: our ability and expertise to manage the variables all these tools provide in the context of a hopefully successful training process,where things only happen by design.

For it may help,it is always the man,not the technology.

Great post, pakewi! Tnx…
Sure that not HRmonitor, nor VO2max testing, nor Omega Wave can change coach whou should interpret this data…
Is it expensive? Omega Wave? Can I manage that my faculty buy it?

I’m here for the sake of knowledge and open discussion,not for any marketing related issue.
You might contact me for further info at pakewi@tiscali.it.

Beyond its sporting applications, you would find the technology itself VERY interesting as it’s an off-shoot of work by Tesla, wartime Germany, and the post-war Soviet Union- Interferometry. Much of the work was weaponized during the cold war, driving research underground, which is a terrible shame as it could yield cures for many disease states.
I found it astounding to discover American researchers working on testing means parallel to those that have already existed for more than 60 years.

Charlie is there a thread where I can find the definitions to these terms?

[quote=“nap”]

I don’t know of the threads off-hand (though I’m sure there are some). If you have the CFTS, you can look them all up. Eventually, we’ll get enough time aside to create a glossary of terms for the site.

Thanks Charlie,

Question about technique. I have a couple of athletes who have pronounced external rotation of the feet(hips) when they run. When I watch them run from front and back, shin does not line up with thigh when leg is in air?
however, no injuries and two of my faster athletes. But even when you watch them walk, very pronounced duck feet. Do you loose much from this?

[quote=“Charlie_Francis”]

I am as well reading many threads and using the search engine to try and learn the lingo on this website, I can’t wait for the glassary~! lol, I don’t know what CFTS is either however? which seems to be the solution to my problem? I can only imagine what the first two letters stand for…but “TS”?? Thanks for any help :o

Charlie Francis Training System Ebook availible from the store… one of the best purchases you will ever make.

I will look into that for sure! thanks so much:)
