For all of you interested in seeing Charlie in person, I’ve tentatively planned a seminar date for the weekend of August 23-24, 2003 in Vancouver, BC. Put it down on your calendars, as I’ve tried to give ample notice for everyone. I’m going to work hard to make this a sensational event.
My expectations for this year’s seminar is to build on what was presented last year in Vancouver (as shown in the CF seminar series tapes). We will likely do a quick review of the theoretical, with most of our time spent this go-around working on the practical side of planning and training. I’d like to see attendees bring their plans so that we can work interactively with Charlie to help improve your training plans for themselves and their athletes. So if you need help with planning, this seminar could be a great way to kill two birds with one stone.
Also, I would like Charlie to delve into the technical aspects of sprinting, particularly start mechanics, acceleration mechanics and max-velocity mechanics. I will be able to have athletes from different levels and sports on hand to be working models for us (i.e. novice sprinter, elite sprinter, college football player, college basketball player, etc.) so that you can see Charlie work his magic live.
I also anticipate that there will be many questions about Charlie’s work with Tim and Marion. I can’t speak for Charlie on this, but perhaps Charlie will provide some insight into what he did with these two extraordinary athletes.
If any forum members are interested in attending, please provide me with information on what you’d like to see offered at this seminar. I will be putting together the promo-info on the seminar and the outline this week, as well as finalizing registration procedures with Rupert and Charlie. I will also make sure that we get NSCA CEU credits for this event.
If you’ve never had a chance to come to Vancouver, this would be a great time. It’s always beautiful at that time of the year. Also, it would give you a preview of many upcoming events. We are holding the World Weightlifting Championships here in November 2003. We would also like to get the Winter Olympics here in 2010 (find out this week!).
Not sure what you mean Fluke? Charlie lives in Toronto and is coming out to Vancouver… so by definition, he will be on the road. Any other destinations must be organized by a host (in whatever City) and coordinated with Charlie and Rupert.
I’ll vouch for Vancouer. I was there for 2 wks in 2000 with my squad for the NAIA Nationals and Harry Jerome. People were nice and friendly.
Hopefully the seminar will be affordable. I’d like to see the seminar geared toward some higher level stuff… montoring and enhancing rest and recovery. basic and adavanced technical features of the sprint. maybe have a longer discussion on factors and considerations for the 200m and 400m. nutrition and supplement concerns and timing (within the day and within varios cylces). each of these has been touched on in the forum but it would be nice to really spend some time on these and integrate these topics, imo.
Good suggestions Kebba… I’ll see what I can do to get us into the high performance mode while in Vancouver. I agree that we can expand much more, and in greater detail, on topics discussed in this forum. Followed up by some practical demonstrations and video analysis would be great.
One grand for the trip? (flight, hotel, registration)That’s a lot of massage…I have made the trip to see charlie and I never felt that I lost out. Great deal but not cheap for coaches.
