stretching shoulder/neck muscle

how do you stretch the muscle on top of the shoulder, betweeen the shoulder and the neck? i dont know what theyre called but shawn crawford has massive ones, im sure you know what i mean. the only way i know now is to tilt your head to one side and pull the shoulder that is being tilted away from down (not with your other arm just moving it downwards). thanks.

You’re referring to the upper trapezius. There are many stretch variations for this muscle, but the one you described is pretty standard. For the side you want to stretch turn your head away and slightly down, as if you were looking into the breast pocket of a shirt. You can also use your other hand to slightly pull the head down to increase the stretch. Pushing the shoulder down will help the stretch by anchoring the other end of the muscle.
