Strength vs Rythm

Would like to find your opinion on what you believe makes a better 200m runner. Yes I know both are just as important but which do you lean towards.

Depends on the definition of strength. Do you mean strength as refering to maximal force a muscle can generate or strength as ability to finish the race strong which is actually really speed or strength endurance?

If you are refering to strength as meaning maximal force the only time during the 200 where this is really happening may be acceleration. I feel this may not be as important in a 200 since the one who is the strongest may have the potential to accelerate the best is not always the one who wins the race. Now that I think about it I am thinking you are refering to the ability to maintain your speed and finish strong. Is this more important than rythm? I believe they are related to eachother. When you get into a rythm your are relaxed and it is all “flowing” this in term may help you to finish strong.

I dunno just my idea. Others?

This is kind of what I’m talking about.
I’ve seen many runners who are lean on muscle but have amazing timing and rhythm, making them look as if they just float over the ground. (beautiful to watch)
Then there are those runners who carry more muscle and don’t quite have the timing or rhythm of the leaner runners but are stronger.
Do we want to be somewhere in between or is there one which is more important.

I think rhythm is most important because if you have a poor rhythm you are not utilizing your strength to its full potential
