Does the whole foot have to rise above the opposite knee or is it just the ankle. I’m hoping that this would lead to stride length improvements.
I think it’s just the ankle and due to mechanical advantages it will give u a higher stride frequency.
ankle
so we just pick the foot up off da ground, step over and step down?
I don’t like the idea of picking your foot up. If you rush recovery mechanics you may end up sitting when you run.
The foot springs off the ground on its own but you can “enhance” the recovery as it passes the support knee.
after stepping over, should the leg be accelerated back down or should it fall back down naturally.
Sprinter,
my understanding of the ‘foot’ cue is that the foot is brought up over the knee of the supprt leg and down - without any conscious thought on the foot contact.
hmmmm I think I’m getting this step over thing… In a race the other day i was driving with everyone till like 20-25m…then they got up in left…should have i (when starting to straighten up) take one hi step over my ankle ???so i cna get up straight… i think that i am not doing this … after i drive i just get my back up and continue with no extra movements when i should eb stepping over???
so i should tkae one high step (step over) when getting up???
i dont think u just step over once after ur drive phase, i think u are supposed to ‘step over’ with every stride at full speed. But i think it’s supposed to be after each triple extension, when ur leg bounces back forward/up, u just try to make it bounce higher to increase stride length i guess
