does’nt nessaceraly mean he’ll go sub 10, one of his greatest problems is consistancy. although 6.49 is a marker that equates 2 9,98 doen’t mean he’ll definintly do it , just have a look at pongion.
i like pickering alot, all i’m saying is he could have run faster in the final if he did’nt let the pressure get 2 him. a good sprinter should always b able 2 give his best performance when it counts. bt he is still very young and he will gain valuable experience from this year.
how he handles the pressure will define him as an athlete. it will either make him or break him.
in the past he’s always performed well when he needed to. euro u20s, he lost to simeon in all 3 races leading to the final, then he took the title. that’s probably the best example.
just remember that we r talking about the big dogs here it’s a totally different ball game. if u look at christian melcom , u’ll c a perfect example of someone who broke under the pressure of world class senior sprinting. he was an outstanding junior athlete bt is quiet ordinary as a senior.
craig has the body of a sprinter lets c if he has the fighting spirit and heart that makes a great sprinter.
I’m very excited by Pickering. I think he could be the first white guy under 10.0s.
Notice his heat: 6.55 with a .16 RT. That’s worth at least 6.53 with an optimal reaction.
he looks really strong in the later part of the race so if he can atleast go sub 6.5 then i think he’ll do the bussines in the 100m
For anybody except Jason Gardener.
lol…cheeky
lol…cheeky
and no…i’m not him…
Curious question:
What’s the slowest known 60m Pb run by a sub 10 sec sprinter?
What minimum time would you have to run to achieve a sub 10 over the remaining 40m…? eg.Could a guy with a 6.75 pb run 9.99? As we’ve seen 6.4x doesnt always equate to a sub 10 run over the 100m.
Percy Spencer JAM 6.71 indoor, 9.98 outdoor
Patrick Johnson AUS 6.69 indoor, 9.93 outdoor
Of course, dring their sub10 outdoors, they were necessarily faster than 6.60 at 60m point.
what about carl lewis?
6.09 55m for carl
wasn’t carl’s pb 6.59 for 60m? christian’s problems aren’t mental i don’t think. he would admit he could have worked harder over the past few years and he’s trying to put it right now. craig on the other hand has a very professional attitude and work ethic, and always has. i know both of these guys very well and i can see the differences, but i would definitely argue that christian never bottled it as such, it was just a shock for him perhaps, as junior success came so easy, and it was harder to come by at the senior level, so he had to work harder than he was used to, and it takes a while to adjust to that.
How can you say he was Psyched when .02 can be nothing more than a reaction time and this is an extremely tough field.
thank you. it is also his 3rd fastest time ever. 3 weeks ago, this time would have been seen as a massive improvement!! almost beyond belief!
Also, Pickering did the false start before the final. Good guy, shy and talented, he did well for his first ever pro meeting .
he comes out of his shell when you get to know him!!! he is talented though and has the work ethic to match!! i wish him the best!
Yepishin and Pickering this year will be the great white hopes…Maybe sub 10 finally. Andrey has been improving over the last few years pretty consistently and ran 10.10 at Euro Champs to break the Russian record.
Its looking good!
It’s all about Dean Wicks.
his reaction time in the heat where he ran 6.55 was .11 slower than the final where he ran 6.57. i agree it was a tough field and i believe that is what got 2 him.
