It was my understanding (and Coach Boyle’s) that he had been banned. He used to contributed semi-frequently and I’m sure he would have loved to have had a discussion over this. Not an ego guy in the least. Despite what ‘the guy’ (who apparently has no reputation to speak of since he has to remain anonymous after how many years of coaching?)says, Coach Boyle is one of the best. He’s credit Charlie on several occasions for his outstanding work, as well as anyone else of mention he has learned from. Great coach. Period.
Which “The Guy” do you mean? Dr. Sprint aka Time Lane? If so he has good reason to remain anon. as the very mention of his name is enough to get banned from many boards these days.
I agree coach Boyle seems to reference Charlie frequently and gives credit where credit is due unlike some other coaches. He has always offered some sound advice on here.
I enjoyed the commentary on me in there! Sometimes I tire of getting ripped off all over the net by the cut-and-paste crowd and so it’s nice to see parity with an attack on me that appears to be ripped straight off from Gambetta!
Did Gambetta really say that! Add another one to the list. Don’t worry the only people “the guy” listens too are you and dr.squat. You both helped save my track career, and to that I am greatful.
IMO that is a pretty mild “attack.” But I do find it odd that simple differences of opinion (or even of fact sometimes) become so personal on this board. Dr. Sprint’s language regarding Boyle suggests that there is much more going on than we need to know about.
Another reminder, if you really want to understand speed, pick up a copy of Charlie Francis Training for Speed. Charlie Francis hits on basic concepts in way no one has before or after. In spite of any perceived scandal Francis is still the best sprint coach of all time.
-Boyle
“10 years out of date” (I might claim 10yrs ahead, as you can see from the training plans of the top sprinters of today)
“Only applies to running straight ahead and turning left”, when I’ve been involved with NFL consulting for 26 years.
“Only applies to athletes on *****”
good thing it was mild!
Different messages for different audiences I guess.
I think you are blowing that out of context. Mike works in the weight room, Charlie works with track athletes. Charlie isn’t a big fan of when other people train track athletes who aren’t in track (i.e. football coaches). So it has to be both ways. Mike is simply saying, he prefers learning from someone who works with that specific sport athlete every day.
I think you are trying to start something that really isn’t there just because you don’t like Mike (for some personal reason I am sure).
You are entitled to your opinion, but i don’t see the need to rip on someone when the thread is about sled training.
