I’M ASSUMING SHE’S JAMAICAN BECAUSE THIS STORY IS IN “THE GLEANER” NEWSPAPER IN JA.
SIMONE FACEY LOOKS THE REAL DEAL. SHE’S PERFORMED REALLY WELL ON THE BIG OCCASIONS AND MUST BE AGED AROUND 22 OR 23 WHICH MEANS SHE PROBABLY HAS LIVED ENOUGH BY NOW TO KNOW WHAT SHE WANTS AND IS WILLING TO WORK HARD ENOUGH TO GET IT. WATCH THIS SPACE …

IN AN impressive display at last weekend’s Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Simone Facey justified her place as a strong candidate for a top three spot at June’s National Championships.
Representing Texas A&M, Facey won the 100 metre and 200m sprints and was part of the winning 4x100 relay as the Aggies sprinted past Nebraska on Sunday to take first.
In contributing 20 individual points, Facey raced to a world leading 22.49 in the women’s 200m, beating the previous mark of compatriot Kerron Stewart (22.60).
Facey had earlier in the season run 22.77, which was the world best up to April 21 when Stewart ran her time.
Facey, the 2002 World Junior 100m silver medallist, also set a Big 12 meet and Ed Weir Stadium record in the 200, which was a personal best.
Facey, who anchored Jamaica to the 4x100m sprint relay title at the 2002 World Junior, clapped her hands repeatedly after crossing the finish line of the 200, then dropped into a crouch for a quick rest before bouncing back up and clapping again.
“I was a little shaky for the first five metres,” Facey said. “I just had to execute. I kept pushing and pushing and really got going at the end,” added the 2002 CAC Junior 100m champion.
On the penultimate day, Facey, a former Vere stand-out, ran 11.19 seconds against the wind in the 100m for another personal best.
Facey’s performances helped her team to their first Big 12 Championship title.
Texas A&M finished with 140 points, Nebraska had 117 and Texas ended with 89.
The Texas A&M women won their first Big 12 title at the conference indoor meet in February.
