tactical preparation for competition and rest
This is what I’ve been saying for years. Varying the speed of weights only matters when you do nothing else!! When you sprint, accelerate, do plyos, explosive med ball, you’re covered already without the risk inherent in explosive weights.
Thats sound a very good point. To add to that the speed of moving the weights might never be as fast as the other training types you have mention,so why do it?
Touretski is the correct name of Popov’s coach. He has had a drinking problem which is the other reason he’s been in the news in the past. Plus as a Russian he would have had a bond with Khemelenko.
But the biggest influence by far on Khmel’s training ideas has been Pfaff. And that’s apparent from the progrm which has been posted.
Both guys have their critics, but both have also had their triumphs.
I read somewhere that Khamel greatest achievement would possible be SHIVO. I am not sure what the CW 400m champ ran with him but he was not with Khamel when he ran 44.6 earlier this year, so not being rude what exactly are his triumphs?
Anyone?
KK might have some more qualified info on this but prior to his leaving i think he had 4 of the 5 athletes in the 4 x 400m squad in sydney.
plus shirvo obviously at 10.03.
he noticeably had limited success with females many who went to train there broke down before to long, only gloria kemosuade could handle the workload before she was deported back to Nigeria.
I woulnd’t be so sure of that. The strongest trees have deep roots. Khmel had I believe 4-5 atheltes under 46 in the 400m at one point and 3/4 of the Ozzy 4x400m team plus Daniel Batman and most of the other up and coming Ozzy tallent. We can argue about his loading protocols but he installs good basic movement skills, attention to detail and work ethic in the athletes he coaches.
