Hey guys, just gonna give an update here.

The shins are holding up really strongly lately. I haven’t been running, I’ll admit that, but they’re doing fine. A little pain , but I think I’ve learned to just accept whatever little pain I have.

Of course, maybe my shins really started feeling better once I started wearing Nike Air Forces to walk around in. You might wonder…why would I be wearing those shoes to walk around in? Well besides that I like the way they look, they offer a lot of support on concrete ground, which I’m constantly walking on. I used to wear my good running shoes to walk around in, and I’d feel the impact against the concrete, but I dont anymore since switching shoes.

Umm other than that, I’ve been really training my upper body. I’ve benched 305 and dumbell pressed 130lbs (well, only right arm haha…my weaker arm can do around 120). I’ve been stretching my lower body, fixed up my diet, and am working out a few kinks. I think I’m at the point where I can begin sprint training again, as long as I don’t go too hard too fast. I kinda tore something in my left hamstring though like in June, and I still feel a little pain there. Not sure what to do about that??? I tore my right hamstring in 2006, but it doesnt hurt anymore. It just has a slight weird feeling, but it doesnt seem to impair me.

I still wish I could find a good massage therapist though…

Sounds like the shoe issue is a major one. I’ve had a few guys whose running shoes caused significant shin irritation in the past. Finding a good shoe is huge.

I’ve recently been to a very good sports doctor, and he told me that my shin splints are very possibly caused by ankle-problems, and he did note that my left ankle has a greater range of motion than my right one (more than normal), which causes left leg shin pain.

So there’s this new method practiced in Europe now (it’s been around in the States for longer), using enzyme injections in problematic joints, and it seems to take away pain and improve other relating problems. I haven’t tried it yet, but if I need to in the future, I’ll let you know!

Glad to hear you’re doing better  I’m coming back from a torn gastrocnemius  All good now though!

Woah when did you post this? haha
Let’s hope you don’t need to get those injections…:stuck_out_tongue: lol we have some luck huh? How’s the calf holdin up now?

My shins are actually doin real well now…but I constantly wear the compression sleeves. I underestimated just how much they help.

3 months later, I can assure you that ARP (advanced recovery performance) takes away any kind of inflammation very very quickly. Do a search on it if you can. (never did those injections, btw…pfeew)

the sites down…

what experiences have you had with it? ive heard a few stories that make it seem like its the magic cure

Ive had several therapies with it. It can take away shin splint inflammation in 7 minutes…

are you serious??

I found the new site I think…arpwave.com

they only have a few clinics, and theyre all over 1000 miles away… =/

You went to Italy? How did everything go?

Hi Charlie. I posted a bit about it on the Gastrocnemius Tear thread, if you wanna have a look
(p.s. why don’t you accept PM’s? )
