Say What?

How about a collection (one more time) of clever, interesting or famous sayings (ie: quotes):

I’ll kick it off:

"Outside of a dog
a book is a man’s best friend.

“Inside of a dog
it’s too dark to read.”

“do you want me to slap you” from every mother in the world - why do they need to ask that? would any kid ever say yeah

That’s not clever, interesting or famous: do you want me to slap you? ‘Must try harder’, read the reportcard

CK Yang must have had a few profoundly wise things to say.

I was given two eyes two ears and one mouth for a reason.

LAZINESS

“What some people need is a good kick in their can’t.”

  • Wilbur G. Howcroft.

(never heard of him, but i think this is clever)

“never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lay down” Charlie Francis - Australia 2007

is that better??? and by the way if you dot know him he is not famous and i’m sure a famous mum said my other quote  bad day at work was it?

“Eagles may soar, but weasles don’t get sucked into jet engines” -Anonymous

now that’s what I’m talking about. much better.

we need some profound stuff here (which should make it a one-page wonder :frowning:

“Too reach unusual goal you must have unusual preperation.”

Don’t know who said that, though I think it’s quite well known in sports circles.

Also from the CF seminars

Don’t be afraid to keep it simple.

Never go for the great super workout as the best possible outcome from it is a return to normal.

Whatever you add in to your training you have to take something out, so if you want to start doing arm curls what are you going to take out?

Extraordinary results come from extraordinary preparation, they don’t just magically happen.

How do you mentally prepare for an important race? By having adequate and appropriate preparation and training.

You have to do what is necessary this may not always be what is ideal.

Flexibility is not gained in the weight room! It is done outside of that. The weight room is for gaining strength, flexibility is dealt with separately.

Always stretch after a session and it doesn’t always have to be a lot.

If you only ever do ballistic stretching how do you increase your range of motion?

Have a set warm up and stick to it regardless of the situation.

Therapy is ALWAYS a gain.

Athletes should never be sore from training.

The focus for most sports should be on increasing speed reserve.

Speed reserve is a one-way street. Absolute speed affects Speed Endurance directly but SE doesn’t affect speed directly.

Sprinting moves weights up not vice versa.

“90 per cent of the game is half mental”

“If you can’t imitate him, don’t copy him”

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it”

“You can observe a lot by watching”

“If you don’t set goals, you can’t regret not reaching them”

“The future ain’t what it used to be”

“It ain’t over 'til it’s over”

“Don’t always follow the crowd because nobody goes there any more. It’s too crowded”

“You can’t lose if you win”

“It’s deja vu all over again”

    • Yogi Berra.

“how can i soar like an eagle when i am surrounded by turkeys”

“it aint over till the fat lady sings, and theres a lot of fat lady’s here!”
Alex from the biggest looser Aust.

“looser” of course being the aim of the game - looser around the waist after losing all that flab

I may have my faults, but being wrong isn’t one of them.

Jimmy Hoffa

This should be engraved on my forehead so i dont forget… again

If you think you can or you think you cant… you’re right! An old coach of mine.

Just do it! I wonder who said that?

apologies for the next one but its so true in every walk of like
He who hesitates, masterbates!

“If you think you’ve ‘arrived’, you’re correct . . . because you’ll go no further”
