SADDAM’S FIRST WORDS WHEN FOUND DOWN THE HOLE:
``He said: ‘I am Saddam Hussein, I am the president of Iraq and I want to negotiate’,’’ according to Reed.
``The response was ‘President (George) Bush sends his regards’,’’ Reed said, adding that a US soldier had recounted the conversation.
Saddam was captured on Saturday night when US troops found him hiding in a hole under a mud house in a village near his home town of Tikrit.
