MOCBA CHALLENGE TO INCORPORATE USA V RUSSIA MATCH IN 2004
The second presentation ceremony of the GROSS (the Gallery of Russian Sports Glory) took place on the 3rd of December, 2003. The GROSS 2003 was presented to a track-and-field tournament âMoscow Challengeâ in the nomination âThe most innovative sports project of the yearâ. âMoscow Challengeâ was organized by the Russian sport marketing agency âSportimaâ belonging to the advertising holding âMedia Arts Groupâ. The project was realized under the auspices of Russian Federation State Committee on Physical Training and Sports. President of âSportimaâ Dmitry Chernyshenko accepted the award on behalf of the company. The first Vice President of Russian Athletics Federation I. Ter-Ovanesyan and silver high jump medalist 2003 Marina Kuptsova had the honor to present the prize.
âMoscow Challengeâ took place in Moscow on the 20th of September, 2003 and became a unique sports event which was widely covered in Russian and foreign mass media. The tournament with the unprecedented prize of USD 2, 000, 000 and the participation of renewed stars of athletics was the first attempt to fuse the most prestigious and spectacular sports events with a musical show.
The GROSS reflects the popularity and public recognition of Russian athletes and also the activity of people and organizations popularizing a healthy way of life, physical training and sports.
âMoscow Challengeâ opened up a new era in track-and-field athletics and became a splendid example of private initiative in the development of Russian sports potential. In accordance with the decision of the jury - âMoscow Challengeâ could present the nomination âThe most innovative sports project of the yearâ by right.
According to the idea of organizers the tournament appreciated by the jury is to become an annual event crowning the international track-and-field season. Thus âMoscow Challenge 2004â will take place on the 5th of September 2004, and will commemorate a renewal of the matches between the strongest teams of the world â Russia and the USA.
