2006 World Athlete of the Year Sanya Richards who clocked 50.10, the fourth fastest time of the year to win the women’s 400m at last Sunday’s Prefontaine Classic meeting in Eugene is leading a group of US track stars in the newest of her initiatives.

A two-time Golden League Jackpot winner, Richards has created a new project called Run with Sanya where she aims at motivating talented youngsters to not only take up the sport of athletics but become tomorrow’s next big athletics star.

Through her website, www.sanyarichards.net, Richards is reaching out to students from all over the world and offering professional track gear including spikes, running shoes, track suits, competition vests…

Participants will be requested to register to the project and write an essay of at least 100 words explaining why they are most deserving of Sanya’s gear in order to qualify and receive their unique prize.

Some of Richards’ team-mate and friends will also donate their lightly worn gear to this project, including three-time World champion and World Athlete of the year Tyson Gay, World and Olympic champion Jeremy Wariner, World champion Walter Davis, former World champion Lauryn Williams, World championships medallist Carmelita Jeter and more…
