Rules of THumb

I got into a conversation with some profs of mine about building intuition (in regards to engineering). The main outcome of that discussion is one needs to start with generalized “rules of thumb” and then transcend them. That got me thinking about how good coaches make the transition to “intuitive”/artistic (can’t find a good adjective) coaching. Does anyone have any good rules of thumb for coaching?

I am not a coach, but i have a few basic possiblilities:
48 hrs for CNS recovery
24 hrs for muscle recovery
“Less is more”

relax and run

don’t spit in the wind

don’t play leapfrog with unicorns

When you run, focus on your arms… the legs will take care of themselves.
