BERLIN, Feb 7, 2008 (AFP) - World indoor silver medallist Dayron Robles is being tipped to attack Colin Jackson’s indoor world record for the 60 metres hurdles at Friday’s meeting in Dusseldorf.
The 21-year-old from Cuba ran a lightning-fast time of 7.36 seconds in Stuttgart last Saturday, second only to retired Jackson’s 7.30 record from 1994.
Dayron is our great hope for a world record,'' said meeting director Marc Osenberg.
He is in form, as we saw in Stuttgart.’’
Other big names will be Russia’s Yuriy Borzakovsky in the men’s 800 metres, as well as pole-vaulter Tim Mack from the United States, both gold medallists from the Athens Olympics.
And another big-name draw in Dusseldorf will be female triple-jumper Yargelis Savigne from Cuba, a world champion in Osaka last year.
``It will be very interesting, because the Germans Tim Lobinger and Fabian Schulze are in form, so it will be a good challenge in front of their home crowd,’’ said 35-year-old Californian Mack.
He ran 7.33 friday night in Dusseldorf
what is it about this guy? i just dont find him interesting!
I find him quite interesting with his 45.8 speed and the way he just eats up the ground in the last 100 during a 800.
he hasn’t touched a sub 46 in years.
i find him intresting because he’s a gold medalist and manages to hawk everyone during the last 200 with his even splitting. fwiw.
