Road to becoming National Champ

I have an opinion but will keep it to myself just yet. When do you need to register?

Why not post this on the main forum? It would be interesting to see the views of others.

Registration is between 25th october to 4th december. So I’ll enter both 100/200 but can scratch either one closer to the date.

I might post it in another thread when the season starts

You just laid out a compelling argument for the 200. Is there some reason you want to do both? Do you prefer the 100 that much?

Juggler thanks for you comment! I like the 100 better, and the title that goes with winning it. The fastest. I just think I am a better 200m runner, relative to the competition and if I did that alone I would surely win :o . Thanks, what would you suggest I do?

Monday:

Warmup ( Did like 60min of yoga before this at school lol)

On GRASS in flats!

100m @ 80% - 13.00s 150second recovery X 4

6 minute break

100m @ 80% - 13.00s 150second recovery X 3
(forgot to do the last rep because I got distracted by some ladies   )

Gym later tonight.

I thought his view was quite clear

Squats:

60kg X 4 - technique and explode
90kg X 4
95kg X 10 - PR
100kg X 8 (could have done ten but stopped before failure) - PR

SLDL:
60kg X 4
67.5kg X 10 - PR
70kg X 10 PR

Plate jumps 2.5kg each hand:
4 reps continuous
REST
4 reps continous

Was going to do some back and bicep work but I’m leaving that for the time being.

Let me see if I can make it more clear

Firstly, winning the Championship, whether at 100 or 200, would be something of a credential. You are better at the 200 and it might be safer, injury-risk-wise, to train for as well, since having a super explosive start isn’t quite as important.

But more importantly –

You are already on pace to put up a 200 time that would make the finals in the NCAA Division III championships:

http://www.raceberryjam.com/ncodm200.htm

Actually, you might be capable of making the Championship finals in DII:

http://www.flashresults.com/2005_Meets/outdoor/ncaa2/

In fact, it may be possible to to improve enough to get some help getting into, and getting at least a partial scholarship from a DI school:

Whether you want to go to school in the U.S. or not, my point is that you have the possibility of track making a difference in your life long after everyone has forgotten who won “fastest schoolboy in NZ” and it seems to me that you have more future in the 200 than in the 100.

Wow, thanks for puttin a new perspective on this I really appreciate it. I never even thought about anything but winning the NZ Champs. I was looking into a few scholarships within the country but never thought about going to the U.S.

Tuesday:
Plyos - abs - core- shuttle runs (can’t remember what we did exactly :o  )

Dream big

I’ll slightly amend what I put 5 days ago…You truely amaze me, your training has been so affected by injury and illness yet you are set to rock. Well done I am sure you will have a ripper season

man if i was you, i would strongly think about going over to the U.S. a great oppourinty if i could spell it lol

keep up the training man, doing well with everything

Thanks guys!

Wednesday:

Arg pissed off with myself. Got suckered into a game of soccer and did not do my 200mX4 @ 75%.

Its my last game ever though.

Hopefully I’m fresh for tomorrow because its high intensity.

Thursday:

Well not happy to say the least

I was sore from wednesdays game.

3 X 60m @ 95%

Kind of annoyed as well because coach asked If I wanted to time trial one, and I said no because I feel sick and feel like shit. So he times my last run without me knowing it

6.65h from standing start. Kind of angry cuz I could obliterate that on a day where I am feeling good and knowing it was a timed race.

120m - 40m@90%-40m@80%-40m@90% X 1

meant to do four but again felt like shit so stopped.

I am surprised your vert is only 28 inches.
