upper body work wasnt the reason why you gain weight, look at your diet if i remember correctly you ate a ton.
Mort, I’d like a big upper body again, but I feel it weighs me down too much.
Tamfb, I still eat a ton, but my weight only varies a lot when I reintroduce upper body work. Hell, dinner tonight was 30 chicken nuggets, 32 oz of Gatorade, 2 Hostess cupcakes, and a sizable turkey sandwich. Yesterday I ate a half pound of slow cooked beef and an entire pepperoni pizza. Still, I eat like this and my weight stays steady unless I start lifting enough.
EDIT: Then again, who knows. Maybe I’ll get my 15.5" gunz back and strut around all summer without a shirt. I certainly looked better a while back.
Even with a lower volume/maintenance approach to upper body work i.e. 2x2, 3x2, 3x3 etc something relatively low volume, you still think you’d gain 5-10 pounds?
It all comes down to diet, maybe if the addition of the upper body work and cut out the crap from ur diet cupcakes, pizza, etc you won’t gain the excess weight.

Cortese, you’re right, but I love food. I eat when I’m hungry and the more I train, the more I eat. Food is my real weakness. I think I might go back to upper body at some point, but I’ll never be able to kick my eating habit.
Shaman, I was around 5-6% BF before I went from 170 to 200+. Since then the lowest I’ve dipped is around 8% and I sit at 9-10% on any given day. But yeah, that’s been all on junk food.

Well drop to 6%. 10% @ 200 = 20lbs. Drop 8lbs of fat (and whatever water that will include as well) and keep strength. There you go.
Hard to do when you eat 30 nuggets and drink 50oz of gatorade.
Shaman, like tamfb said, that’s hard to do when you eat like me. I know I need to clean up my diet, but I like junk food. With the way I eat I’d fit in better with shotputters than with sprinters.
As things are, I’m happy with my weight and strength. My weight’s staying constant and my strength is going up. As long as it stays that way, I’ll be fine.

Everything was really easy today. I’ve never handled 160+ so easily on snatches and the supplementary work went down without a hitch as well. It looks like I’ll be coming out of this accumulation blocks a lot stronger and most certainly with better work capacity.
