This looks funny, but you have to understand that in javelin you have tremendous stress on your shoulders and spine.
While these exercises look bad they might actually help against injury once your body has adapted.

The reverse dead lift looks like sissy squats and can be good for mobility, for a sprinter with tight quads, for example.

That was my thought also.
