Reverse snatch

Any thoughts on this exercise…it seems pretty rediculous to me especially on the shoulder joints

another video showing a reverse deadlift

Uh…yeah. Good luck with that.

My first and so far only thought is, … what the holy hell was that???
It sounded like Rooney was saying the guy would need to sign up for shoulder surgery due to the exercise he performed.
The reverse deadlift sure is unorthodox, but it might be OK.

Hopefully none of the young athletes on here see that and try it out.

Sometimes I wonder…

That makes about as much sense as having Martin Rooney have the athlete bend over and lick his own sack and then attribute it to winning the US trials. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should…

number two that was classic. it’s like their warmup that is longer than any workout charlie or james would ever prescribe.

NumberTwo I agree 100%. U can drive a car with your feet but that doesnt make it a good idea or that it should be done!

This snatch is great exercise-if you want not hurt but to destroy your spine and your shoulders,
and this reverse DL is also great for destroying spine and knees…

Silly and dangerous games…

Flash Uh…yeah. Good luck with that.

LOL

what is all this?
I could only laugh when i saw the second vid

Ah this is the guy that is giving our jav thrower training advice. Now I understand why I don’t understand the crazy exercises he was mentioning being recommended by this thrower.

This looks funny, but you have to understand that in javelin you have tremendous stress on your shoulders and spine.
While these exercises look bad they might actually help against injury once your body has adapted.

The reverse dead lift looks like sissy squats and can be good for mobility, for a sprinter with tight quads, for example.

That was my thought also.

I can think of numerous other ways to help a sprinter with tight quads that puts less stress on the knee joint and lumbar spine.

In other throwing sports such as baseball the is also tremendous stress on shoulders. Much of this stress is in the decelration of your limb like in javelin. If you train the joint to be strong in its natural range of motion you will have great control at the extreme end ranges of the motion, i.e you will be better at decelration.

As far as the spine is concerned everyone is different. Taking the spine in to this extreme seems more unsafe than it would help.
