One of my athletes suffered a broken femur playing soccer in March. She is 15, just released from therapy and through discussion has said her ROM isn’t quite back yet (can’t extend knee fully).
Anyone have suggestions as to training progressions etc? She has access to a pool chest high as well.
Based on what my PT did and how my quad felt after my knee was immobilized for 8 weeks, I’d suggest light massage for the thigh but not deep tissue (unless there is a specific issue) since the muscle atrophy means it’s easier to use excessive force and cause bruising, plus the muscle that is still there isn’t as resilient.
I guess some hamstring massage might have helped, but no. The PT just did moderately deep massage of the quad and around the knee. I just did static stretches for hamstrings.
