Ramil Guliyev 20.04!!!

I thought this deserved a thread of its own. He won the Universiade 200 meter final by 0.48. Wind was +0.1. A huge new European junior record and no. 2 on the world all-time junior list behind Usain Bolt.
Also he ran 10.08 few days ago…
New kid on the block!

Do you have current pictures or video from the race?
The only photo I have seen of him was two years old

only this…

What is going on at the World Student Games?? Are there no cameras there? There is nothing at all on the IAAF website

Gee, didn’t know Europe was expanding at that rate! So, what’s next? IND in Europe? A very good result.

Wroe got flogged!

yeah he looked awesome, came off the bend and just ran away from everyone. He must be worth a sub 10 with a 20.04, surely…wonder if he is running the 100 in Berlin?

Lane 1:

Note how fast he moved very late in the 60m- much better than the time as you might expect based on his summer results

The report on the IAAF lists it as an Asian record, yet he competed in the European indoor championships earlier this year. He may soon be the first person to hold continental titles in two continents.

It was a mistake, it’s now corrected on the article, it was a new European Junior Record.

Here we go… the 200m race is in 32nd min.

Thanks for posting the link. It appears as though he runs a conservative turn (or a conservative start)…or maybe he doesn’t posses the absolute strength for the start. Regardless he has tremendous speed end. and really keeps his poise right to the finish. A tremendous run.

this is the race
