AV round 2
knox
4x100m relay: unsure of time or place. results not yet posted.
200m: 3rd, 24.9h
I had a car accident on the way to the track today (not my fault). all very similar to what happened last year. both times hit in the side of the car, both prior to round 2 at knox, both running in a 200m race, wach won by the same guy, both times running similar hand timed results (24.7-24.9).
didn’t go great guns in the relay. arrived a bit later than I planned (obviously  ) and didn’t get to warm up properly. also, my shins were pretty tender. I felt much better later on for my 200m and in fact ran quite a bit faster than I intended to.
fingers crossed for my recovery tomorrow morning…
Good work HB but you need a new photographer!
SB:)
that or he needs a new camera. it seems that it decided to focus clearly on a guy standing at the edge of the picture but not on the image in the middle.
still, if you want to bring your own camera next week and show off a bit then be my guest…

70m (5m): 8.24s, 6th (7)
200m (11m): 23.81, 6th (6)
as predicted, I was well off the pace with my miniature handicap. I started well and was reasonably competitive for the 70 but a long way back in the 200. the further I ran the tighter I became. shins were pretty sore for the first race but not so bad for the 200. buggered up the start in that one, though.
looking around at some of the other runners off longer handicaps I can see that I ran faster than quite a few of the others, so that’s a bit encouraging.
well, the main thing is that I was able to back up and race two days in a row. there is no way I would have been able to do that last season…
AV round 3
duncan mckinnon
100m: 12.59, -1.5
considering how poorly I ran, the time isn’t so bad. I’ve been reflecting on my race and I think I made the classic mistake of tightening up trying to catch the people in front of me when I would have gone through much running my own race.
the handtimed result was only out by .29s on this occasion. that’s certainly within an acceptable range…
AV round 5
duncan mckinnon
200m: 26.4h, 3rd
pretty ordinary run today, but I was running into a gale on a wet track. also, I slowed down quite a bit before the end. doesn’t really matter as it was all unofficial. most of the field events were cancelled today due to the weather. still should have run better. I seem to fall apart as soon as I run into a bit of a wind. my technique really falls apart and I force the issue too much and tighten up…
sigh
it’s basically a dead heat, isn’t it??
