Question about alcohol

Re-read my post again. LOL, I did not say they were on the same level.

Than the AVERAGE American?

Average American eats like shit and is obese.
Lives a stressful lifestyle.
More likely to live in a city.
More likely to be a drug addict or alcoholic.
Includes a wider variety of people–variety of ethinicities, cultures, and lifestyles (certain lifestyles tend to live shorter lives–pretty obvious).

I didn’t realize the average American watched their diet, drank in moderation, etc.

Yawn, and huh. I have to get back studying. We will continue this tommorow. Go have a drink!

Would Ben have run 9.77 while slowing to the line had he not had his guiness, would Powell have beaten Gay at the wc had he not been out “drinking” the night before, would Bruny have beaten Mo in 99 had he not eaten Mcdonalds everyday?

Doubt it.

I remember reading on Ato’s blog about them going out in LA and having to train the next day. Rough he said.

Not that we should drink b/c they did.

But In the grand scheme does it really make that much difference? Enough to not have a little fun in life? All thngs in moderation. Couple glasses of wine really I can’t see hurting, even if it were everyday.

Everyone should have fun. Go steal, cheat, have sex with someone who is not your wife. Do whatever you want, all in the name of good fun. LOL. Thats the problem with this world!

Have fun!!!

I don’t drink at all now… but when I drank the most in my life, I got the best grades in school. No idea why this happened.

I do, because high class people such as popequine suggested in his study are more likely to drink. It all makes sense to me now. Maybe I should drink before my test tomorrow.

he makes a damn good point. Everyone is concerned with having fun these days BUT they do it in ways that affect other people. Drink drivers and people on drugs KILL OR PARALYSE OTHER INNOCCENT PEOPLE whilst driving. Boys racers and other speeders kill. People smoke and do drugs in the presence of others who want nothing to do with it. People are violent and almost every girl seems to be a slut. I’ve found out talking to the little 3rd formers (13year olds) at school during tutor group that they all do drugs and have sex as young as 8!!! these days. Not the overwhelming-minority either. And if you let them they’ll pull out their phones and flash video or picture evidence. Thats why you don’t let them. It’s all just a tad sick. This has been a little off-topic, but really, people need to have fun in ways that don’t risk the health and safety of completely innoccent strangers, and recreatinal drugs are illegal btw as everyone seems to forget. Alcohol is whatever, the trouble is people drive or stab or drive OVER people (all have happened in NZ a lot lately) when they get intoxicated. Some people can’t handle stressful or social situations without it. Everyone makes the argument for moderation - and it may have its merits so long as those people are responsible - but the trouble is that society of today dosen’t do things by moderation. I’m a teenager and I don’t drink, but except for 3 of my friends everyone else does - which is fine - except they drink till they vommit and they have memory loss and they do drags drunk and everything else besides. Some moderation huh? As an athlete alcohol couldn’t possibly be good for you (neither is junk food) but if you want to drink, and you keep it to moderation, then thats your business. For best results, going hardcore (for everything, ie, training, diet, recover, etc) is preobably(?) the best, but if your not a pro athlete then really, what does it matter…Pro athletes on multi-multi-million $$$ contracts should be a different matter altogether though.

That doesn’t exactly sound like moderation does it? Sounds a lot like binge drinking.

Junk food isn’t good for you… well restricting many facets of everyday life isn’t good either. There is not going to be a bit of difference and quite possibly benefit from a mental health standpoint if you indulge in some things–in fact people who do not drink at all will on average have worse health and live a shorter life than people who drink moderately. Junk food, occasional drinking (not to get drunk), and sex are among those things. I hope for your sake that you don’t drive above the speed limit (or do anything risky really–drive a motorcycle, walk through a city at night, etc.) as that is more likely to end your life and your athletic career than anything.

It is almost a double wammy, some say moderation but then go all out, others say dont do anything bad, and are so stressed about doing anything bad, and well how healthy is that.

You can find studys thatll say drinking red wine is bad, i could find one that says its good very easily. Im sure i could find one that says smoking doesnt cause cancer, but we all know thats bullshit. LDL and high blood pressure is a problem, but thats not gonna come from a few drinks, its more likely to be genetic than anything.

Exercise cause trauma, injuries, accidents, should we stop that to.

Moderation is a good thing, why worry about that extra year of life when youre not doing anything to even enjoy it.
