is it ok to do a post-workout ice bath and then 4-5 hours later do a hot epsom salt bath before bed, or will the hot bath increase inflammation or negate the effects of the ice bath?

My experience is that the hot bath later will bring you right back to square one with the swelling etc.
I think you are right, because I tend to still have a fair amount of DOMS if I do a hot bath later that night
