everything cf said i told u earlier, ems pulse method for 15-30min u could apply with ice 2-4 times per day. placed the pads right above the site doesnt mean glutes.
Charlie,
in naps case, how many days post-injury would be optimal to begin receiving ART?
Had to work today, sore to walk on, but not unbearable, only feel sharp pain with any contraction of the hamstring. Began taking high doses of wobenzym N, and serrapeptase.
I have had great success with Serrapeptase dealing with my disc protrusions. I usually will go through three of four episodes per month which will almost leave me completely immobile for a couple days at a time. Since I have been on the Serrapeptase I have not had a single episode in three months. I have even begun to lift, which has not been the case for some time.
My mistake was attempting to sprint after lifting earlier in the day, always a bad idea.
I have been icing and will use the ems today and tonight.
I have an art practitioner that comes right into our facility, when would I consider that form of therapy.
I would like to thank every one for their help and knowledge.
Question about ems, can it be used while walking (working)?
Can it also be used while rehabing?
I think because of the back pain I have experienced in the past I have a high pain threshold, I am wondering if it is better to be active with the hamstring or completely stay off.
I know with some injuries getting mobile immediately is vital for complete recovery, but not for all injuries!
crap i pulled my hammy a week ago, but have done NO icing ems, etc… what should i do?? ps i’m seeing a doc next tueday and my ham still hurts.
How did you do that? Why haven’t you been icing or doing EMS or self massage or anything?
poor guy - spells lots of scar tissue.
i did it sprinting… but i didn’t know that i had to ice it… i’m really ignorant when it comes to injuries, so i thought i’d jsut wait till i see the doc (one week later)…
does this mean i will have ham problems for life?
You need to see someone ASAP. You should’ve been icing. You will need to see an ART guy for a while I’m guessing.
You may have future problems, but take care of it as best you can for now to try and ensure you don’t.
i’ll be seeing the sports doc on tuesday… should i ice in the meantime or is it too late?
and to make matters worse i had to walk alot to and from school and for a food drive, which caused me quite a bit of pain. Man this sucks…
I would say if you’re still feeling some pain in there I don’t see why not. You probably have a bit of inflammation in there still. You need to do something for it; something is better than nothing at least for the time being.
Get the scar tissue broken down once the swelling is sorted out. Go to a physio and see how bad it is.
would it be ok to do some stationary biking/elliptical work if doesn’t cause too much pain or would it be wiser to totally stay off it?
Also single-leg training was suggested in this thread… i was wondering if this would actually be bad in the long run since you’ll end up with a large strength discrepancy between the two legs once you’re healed.
first priority like TC says is to get to a physio to check the grading of the tear. he should also detect any other problems/imbalances that may have contributed to the injury.
when you do get back on the track remember to be patient and over time increase the distance of speed as you go along.
Don’t get carried away with imbalances. That’s really nowhere near as common as an issue related to training tolerance.
You want the swelling to go away as soon as possilbe. If you start to early you will make the swelling bigger. Stay of any activity for about 48 hours. After that you should do as much as possible without provocing any pain in the area as to get as much bloodflo to the muscle as possible.
Charlie
i know in the early days you never has much access to it due to funds etc but did you have your athletes screened at any stage by physio’s?
and is it a case of one problem leading into another with the overuse of poor technique/ flexibility.
