This stuff is much harder to dig up than the men´s times. I have only 4 progressions here. If anyone wants to help to add names and times, please do so. Funny, the women are a bit neglected. There are probably enough guys on this forum who would be happy to have the PB´s that these ladies have.
Once again, no iron clad claims to accuracy!
I have had this on my to-do list for a while, but hey…
It’s kind of funny (or sad), I just did a search on Ben Johnson, and in the search came an opinion paper, which was written around 1990, I believe. In it, it stated that both Ben and Angela were soft (!?), mediocre sprinters before Charlie and his ‘drug’ team. It kind of made me laugh, because I thought of the OLD Penthouse or Playboy (sorry, I’m only 24) interview of Carl Lewis that I read when I was in high school, and still believed that only a very few Olympic athletes took drugs. I remember very clearly how he said that it was ridiculous that anyone would have the where withall (not his exact words) to compete as ‘clean’ on the same field as him. I wonder how he became so muscular if he, from all accounts, shunned all form of work that was not directly sprinting. He went on to say that it was obvious that Mr. Johnson was ‘doping’ because he did not have a sprinter’s body. He said something about being to small with short arms and legs. I wonder what Mr. Lewis would have to say about T Mont, who doesn’t appear to be particularly ‘rangy’. Just a thought.
Ben, Tmont, Mo, Ato, Drummond, all have similar bodies- including all who’ve gone sub 9.80. Apparently Ben’s body didn’t appeal to Carl. I am confident to say- that suited Ben just fine!

Actually, Tim has very long limbs for someone of his height! Mo Greene has shorter limbs than Tim even though he’s taller. Mo’s hips are also a lot ‘chunkier’.
Andre Cason was very short and stocky, yet he had no trouble whipping Carl in '93.
At the World Champs in '93, Carl got an excellent view of Andre’s back!!
I don’t doubt that one bit. I’m just relaying what I read in a magazine. I hope I was implying that the tone of the interview (or at least, the interviewee) was rather bitter, and trite. I was making no judgements, I don’t know very much about track, and knew next to nothing about it before I started reading this forum. I still don’t know very much about the athletes (current and former) that are discussed on this forum. Also, my knowledge of biomechanics is limited (improving, though, as I am majoring equivilent of Sport and human performance at my school). Sorry if I did not explain fully.
