will be in between programs preety soon and i need to get ready for high school
does any one think they could make me a program im a running back i need to improve strength and speed and explosiveness
my max’s are:
squat 270
bench:170
bicep curls:115-120
vert:35"
deadlift:220
military press:115-120
i would prefer a russian type of program something like jay schroeders training (explosive training)
PM me your email address
How much do you weigh? It pisses me off because I can squat as much as you can squat and I can deadlift like 100 pounds more than you. But my vertical is only 25". I weigh 165. You definitely need to hit you posterior chain more. Hams, glutes, and erectors. Do snatch grip deads. Also power cleans.
i weigh about the same as u
the reason my vert is higher tho is cuz i trained 1 full year of just focusing on vert
Could you please tell me exactly what you did?
i lifted for like 2-3 months and then did a vert program called scotts creation and played a lot of basketball then i lifted again
this forum is based on vertical leap and explosive strength

theres a lot of experts that will get ur vert up fast
someone asked Jim Wendler (at elitefts)what he did to train a collegiate baseball team and here was part of his response
“With the baseball team, I didn’t do anything that special. Why? Because they didn’t need it. Like the majority of college athletes, they were untrained and repsonded to very basic training and very simple exercises. I did not have them swing a medicine ball while standing on a wobble board or anything like that. They needed to do very basic exercises and develop overall strength”
In youe situation I’d agree. Right now you probably dont need to work on a million different kinds of plyo’s. Just start with a good overall basic strength program and go from there.
Finally how old are you? That should help us out more
im 13 years old
i got ur email about the program but it had nothing in it the email was just blank
Yo if your 13 year old you shouldn’t even worry about squats and periodization and just do a basic routine that includes leg presses and stuff like that. Also plyometrics help me out alot. I’m 14 years old and a pretty good rb at the freshmen level just in case your wonderin what I do.
P.S. and if your stats are true they are very impressive for a 13 year old. I haven’t even bothered to test my 1 rep max.
Okay, so he should not worry about squats or periodization, and should instead perform plyometrics and leg presses? Are you joking?
Very good point Matt. Or should I say “Matt Houston,” because you are “on the case.”
Plyometrics are very hard on the body; one should have the strength requirements before focusing on too much plyo’s.
thnx for the replys and to dadmonson do u play jv or varsity
BTW i got my bench up to 180
J.V. and freshmen football. Teams that do not have a fresmen team we join our freshmen and J.V. squads. I probably could start at J.V. but I only have like 1 1/2 years of playing experience and I fumble but I guess that comes from my lack in experience. also there is this other awesome freshmen runningback at the J.V. level thats in my way. I run the 40 in 4.75-4.8 range. The other freshmen dued ran the 40 in 4.6 seconds I KNOW THATS UNREAL for a 14 year old but hes probably goin to move up to varsity next year. What is your 40 time. and you 13 so you most play youth football right?
P.S. your really really strong. Stronger than me atleast.
i run it in 4.8 so its not that good
What are you crazy for a 13 year old that’s great.
