Members,
Does anyone supplement their diet with pro-biotics?
Is this a worth while investment?
What are the benefits?

sorry i havent responded till now but things have been alittle busy around the shop there last few days.
yes i use a probiotic and have for the last few years. its a product called “innergy” powder from a company called evolution foods (formerly called Grainfields Australia). the powder contains a greens complex but also has lactobacillus and bifidus cultures aswell as nutritional yeast saccharomyces boulardii, s.cerevisiae (gluten and phytate free)
its not c cheap supplement but both me and my wife have been using it everyday for a couple years. i cant give you any hard numbers or facts on performance or digestive processing but if i, for what ever reason, dont take it for a few days, i feel the difference. it does help immune function as i dont feel level one immune system responses and its been awhile (touch wood) since ive had a full blow flu bug.
hope this helps
Nightmare,
Thanks for the response.
My main reason for asking is that I am considering switching from Low Carb Grow to Dorian Yates’ approved Pro-peptide.
I am a non drug-tested athlete, so cross-contamination is not an issue/concern for me.
but, I am just not sure.
I love the taste of grow, but, the pro-biotics, micellar casein, peptide bonded glutamine in Pro-peptide appeals to me (yes, they sold it very well in an audio tape).
Do you have any opinion on what is the better product (or am I splitting hairs)
Thanks

im actaully a big fan of the yates line! i know alot of good buddys that use the propeptide and love it. its a nice blend and the extra bonus of the probiotic is a cool added extra.
we were looking at bringing it into our store, but i found that biotest was a more complete line (surge, zma, grow, powerdrive etc) and fit our needs better than yates’ line.
I too like the DY Approved powders. Both the Propeptide and Pro MBF are tasty and easily digestible. I also experience a change in digestive habits (there’s a nasty thought) when I do not ingest one or two shakes a day.
I read an article in Alternative Medicine about a man who had lost 80lbs froms Chron’s Disease (he was pooping 20 times a day!!) and taking this stuff helped him recover. He gained all of his weight back and is very healthy now. I hav heard good things about this stuff from other people as well.
As far as probiotics go “Primal Defense” is a very popular product at the vitamin store i currently work at
I will probably give it a go for a month or 2, then report back.
(I order my supplements monthly, hence the time frame)
Only pooping 20 times a day…why, I remember when creatine first came out on the market…I had to stay home from work for DAYS! Ouch…kinda like bran, bb’s, napalm, and jalapeno sauce at 600 psi.
There are other options, but they are mainly milk products.
Jamaal, the guy you spoke about is Jordan S. Rubin who has a great book out called “Patient Heal Thyself”. I recently purchased it and recommend it to everyone who is concerned about their health.
any specific protocols uncle mick?
Clemson, Mr Rubin has a product called Primal Defense that looks pretty good. As far as protocol, his book list his recommendations. I have just started taking a product that looks pretty complete. I don’t have it in front of me but I will get the name for you.
