Pole Vault Training

I was hoping that someone on the forum had any suggested readings or decent videos on the Pole Vault. I am indeed clueless! LOL. Thanks in advance.

The Jumps by Jess Jarver, in particular,

4th edition (1994)
3rd edition (1988)
2nd edition (1981)

Complete Book of Jumps by Jacoby/Fraley

Track & Field by Schmolinsky

There are also some good vault article in the Track Coach/Track Technique, Track & Field Quarterly Review, and New Studies in Athletics.

hope that helps

thanks. got most of that stuff. I will keep forging on.

Rumor mill has it that Joe Lanahan is the vaulting king in the asheville area, maybe you should check him out…not sure if he has any videos out, but i know he will have some opinions and helpful hints:baddevil::

Yea, I heard from solid sources he is about as credible as the Saint. From what I understand, Saint and the man described did a training video on Glute Ham-bone raises and their effectivness for vaulting after doing intensive tempo for 2 hours. What are his views on sprint training? I have heard that he is trying to disprove speed reserve. Such a smart man.

gotta friend ranked top 10 in states, pole V.

What are you looking for in specific??

Dave K.

I heard that the former national coach of Saipan might be available for training consultation with his buddy the Saint in Asheville area.
