plan for off season training

I am currently playing semi-pro football, we are having 3 practices a week and the season officially starts June 19 and runs through late August early September(including play-offs). At that point the off season begins, now the reason I am planning this early is because I want to make sure everything is in place. I will be entering camp in August of 05, so I must be ready and physically able to handle the demands of camp, and all the high intensity running they will have us doing.

Can someone please teach me how I should break down my off-season year, from late september early october until mid july. That would be 10 months give or take. So how should the 10 months be broken down? I have the off season workout for miami outlined by Thomas in the Hurricanes thread which i will use in the summer months perhaps may-july. Probably doing hypertrophy training directly after the season for 6-8 weeks. I dont know how i will break down the winter months though. Perhaps doing alot for conditioning, it’s hard to work on speed due to the fact that i live in northeat Ohio, we tend to get lots of snow.

We have this jump stretch place here that works with bands and stuff like that. Maybe I could do something like that for the winter?

Thank you for your time any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Buy Joe Kenns book from amazon.com (Strength Coaches Playbook)

It runs ~$15.00 and is well worth it. It covers yearly periodization. The Conjugate system (he does prescribe olympic lifts), The weekly plan, the workout plan with warm ups, etc. Extra Workouts, where to fit in speed work (use a CF based speed program). Awesome book

Thanks, i’ll look into it.
