PJ 20.25 200 metres!

Just returned from watching the Campbelltown round of the Telstra A series, this time Patrick Johnson was running the 200metres.

He blitzed the field in 20.25, blew them away at the start and held it through to the end. Davidson Ezenwa from Nigeria came 2nd, and Alvin Harrison from the USA came third.

Got there early and watched him do his full warmup, along with all the other competitors. Even got his autograph and a photo with my son

Too bad im gonna have to beat him this time next year huh hehe

Photos and commentary to follow.

I was there with jules;

one thing i must mention - Pat Johnson walked around all day with tonnes of confidence, like he really really knew he was the real deal. Didnt see him really do much warm up, especially in comparison to any of the other sprinters. Very Carl Lewis-ish. Mostly sat around looking fast. If that makes sense.

oh yeah. Marcia Dorsett is HOT! DAMN HOT! she ran second to Jana Pittman in the 300 metres, but as far as im concerned she was the best heheh
:stuck_out_tongue: :sing:

“Davidson Ezenwa from Nigeria came 2nd”

You mean Ambrose Ezenwa. I think Davidson Ezinwa (different spelling) has long retired. Chris Perry commentating at last year’s Stawell Gift foolishly said that Ambrose was Davidson’s younger brother.

Pat was surprisingly only .07 ahead off the bend and did the damage in the 110m-60m segment.

I’ll let Casey Vincent know what you think of his fiancee Mr Watling. :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah, sorry about that. In my excitement I got Ambrose’s name wrong. Oops.

hehe who is casey vincent?

can he run very fast?
my bad… :frowning:

See for your self lol

Vincent came a distant 3rd or 4th in the 400m behind Batman and Hill. Speaking of which, did anyone see the size of Batman’s thighs - not quite what you’d expect of a 400m runner

Forget the thighs (yes they are quite big), he’s only 170cm tall !!!

Yeah, that too - he’s a bloody nuggety little fellow. Obviously his foray into the football world was unsuccessfull, or did he not even get started.

How large is Batman’s brain???

he’s a bloody nuggety little fellow.

I’m wondering, if he wasn’t as chunky as he is, say 5kg lighter, how much faster would he run. Also, what’s with the arm waving at the finish.

Maybe he really is batman!

You should try running a 400 and then come back with comments re Batman’s arms! :o

Marcia is a very nice girl. They are a happy couple. Casey has a lot of talent, he placed top 16 Sydney 2000 running a PB.

Batman is actually a bit slimmer than he was in 2000. He is running well at the moment though probably went out just a little too hard on Saturday. Next Saturday’s 400 in Canberra will be a real feast!

I agree he did go out very hard on Sat. It was a good run though.

That race in Canberra will be a good one to watch.

Who you tipping to win, Harrison??

dcw23, did you run on Saturday??

I don’t think Pat D will be running. Slightly tore his hammie last Monday

“In November 2000 suffered a major injury when he tore the pectoral muscle off the bone.”

Ouch! How did he manage to do that? He did well to record a 46.03 later in the season.

He did it bench pressing. Actually with a warmup weight. I have my suspicions why, the gym that he was in when he did it has 50% of the weights mislabled. Some are in lbs, some in kg. Worse still the sizes are similar.

The “Bench Press” seems to be the standard explanation for this type of tear from people who employ explosive overhead med ball throws from way back and from the side, while in a kneeling position (you know who you are) yet, when an injury occurs, this is never the reason why- it’s just that the individual in question happened to bench 75lbs once on their own! Hmmmmm! He who doesn’t learn from history is doomed to repeat it.

Great guess, i have seen their squad doing such exercises.

The shear & tensive forces on the pec major are not that great during the bench with light loads.

If a complete rapture occured with a light load then previous damaged tissue would of most likely existed.

I’m pretty certain it was purely the BP, its hard to lift when some clowns rocking the bar.
