Paul Radcliffe World 5k Record - 14sept2003-

LONDON, Sept 14 (AFP) - Paula Radcliffe broke theworld five-kilometre road record with a stormingperformance in a race in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday.
Radcliffe, the fastest woman marathon runner of alltime, outpaced a world-class field to win in 14min51sec, taking 3sec off the previous best time set byAmerican Deena Drossin in California last year.
The Briton led virtually all the way to beatEthiopia’s Derartu Tulu and Ireland’s Sonia O’Sullivan.
She said: ``It was just a case of going out andrunning as hard as I could.’’
Britain’s golden girl missed the World Championshipsin Paris last month after failing to recover from injuryand illness.
