Week-16 Tuesday
AM… (I hate getting up early)
3x5 bench
3x5 incline
3x10 T-bone (wierd reverse bench thingey with the weights in the front)
3x10 preacher
5x5 pullup
5x5 bar dip
Bench was pretty good today, I was able to 5RM more than I’ve done before: 135. I really suck at pullups and bar-dips, though. Like, it’s the worst hardest most ugly thing in the world. I was maxing out at 5 pullups/bardips. shudder

Week-16 Wednesday
AM:
1x245, 1x300, 1x340 squat,
25 mins running (Jogged around, then got caught running and HAD to lift)
3x10 Bicep Curls (for the ladies)
3x5 Bench
3x7 military press
3x30 Decline Abs
5x5 pullup
5x5 bar dip
I forget the rest of what I did. I have just been trying to get away with as little weight work as possible. The teacher is a dick, though, and fails to understand that I can’t lift heavy/hard the day before/of a meet regardless of whether I’m lifting “upper” or "lower. The squat was kind of scary, though. I do NOT like lifting heavy AND going LOW in the squat. Parrallel for me is NOT something you do near max weight. So I didn’t I probably went about 10-15 degrees off parallel.
Afternoon workout was:
Workout: 10 min, agilities, 20x50/100, 10 min cooldown, stretches
We started out at 800 pace, about 7 secs per 50, and by the end we where hitting high 7’s low 8’s.
That’s quite the squat you got goin there (especially for a distance guy ), even if it wasn’t quite to parallel. Huge improvements since you first started I assume. Keep up the good work.
Didn’t really do anything after that, just kind of joshed around, moving nothing wieghts to look like I was not really lifting.
The Incline max-test was a PiTA… I put on 125, and barely got it up. I grunted and howled etc. He then said “put on the 5’s”. I lowered the weight and brought it back up to about 90degree elbow angle and then had to get it pulled into the pegs. “Alright Palmtag THAT’s your max.” Stupid guy. No wonder his baseball team has 3 league championships, and our track team has 23.
PM: Alisal Dual Meet
4x100, I started out late. I need to give Rocha more steps, 20-ish. We still ran 44.3h and killed their 4x100.
800: 64-58. I tore the godamn distance runner a new asshole. You can’t out-sprint an 800m runner. A distance runner may be able to run a faster 1/2mile than me, but I don’t care what your HS 5k PR is, if you don’t take the first lap out faster than 57, I will run you down and bust your nuts open with 200 to go. That’s exactly what I did today. I let them do ALL the work the first lap, and just chilled. When Enrique “Elbows” Lopez made his move with 400m to go, I jumped out of my 3rd place spot and followed him. Down the back stretch, I closed in on him so he was maybe 4 feet in front of me. With 150m to go I passed him on his outside shoulder. I love the feeling of kicking against a runner and my victim doesn’t “give up”, he just CAN’T outkick me. So very ego-inflating.

Week-16 Friday
AM Workout: stretches 10 min jog, agilities, 1x115, 1x120 1x130PR!, 5x120 Powerclean, 3x5 125 Bench, 15 min jog, stretches 1x5 135, 3x6 200 Squat
The P/C was fun today. I put up 115 with super ease and 120 came just as easy. I put up 130 with a grunt and a bit of a knee wiggle in the squat phase, but I was able to explode the weight off my chest no problem. The bench was tiring grunting, etc. the usual. Squat was tough. I have hard time going more than 75 degrees, probably flexibility issue. Not big deal, though.
PM Workout:
3 miles easy
Was raining, tired, excuses. Blah. My left foot has been getting sore. The bones on the arch etc. Time for new shoes. It was too wet for me to run on grass, and so I ran on the road. My foot ached quite a bit after my run, so it was probably a bad idea.

Week-17 Wednesday
Workout: 15 min warmup, 9x1:00 hard (trails), 10 min cooldown
Ouch! Tough workout today. I needed to find 200-300m stretches of hills to do this workout on, but i couldn’t find any straight hills so I settled for trails. It was wet, and there were a few sinkholes, and I was thoroughly glad my running jacket kept my cell phone and room-key dry. On the last rep I ran my bawls off. Felt great.
Workout: 40 minutes easy
I didn’t have time for a quicker workout today, because I had to initiate 3 new DeMolay members. I’m very happy that I got all of the ritual work memorized for initiation. I have a HUGE part, and I did Chaplain for Opening and Closing and I had both prayers memorized. I’m very proud of my ritual work.

Week-17 Saturday: North Salinas Invite
800m: 59-2:03, I was FLAT today! Godamn I was flat. I couldn’t kick, sprint, accelerate, whatever. I gave it my all, too. I didn’t hold anything back. I just COULDN’T respond! What a bitch is that?
4x400m: 53.8 WTF mate?! This is a bitch… I need to organize my sleep patterns I didn’t get any sleep with spring break, I’m shot.

Week-18 Monday
Workout: 9-10 miles 1:10, hilly with last 20mins hard.
Good hilly workout. I’m in good shape, godamnit. I just need to go through with “it” in a race. The hills were doable, my legs are sore now. In the run, I was able to power up all the big hills, and cruise down them. Of course, I haven’t ran for 1:10 in probably 10+days, so I was breaking down come 1:00 into the workout.
I’ve been wondering the same thing myself. I checked online and I know his league had prelims on the 11th, but there were no 800 results listed. I’m guessing they just go straight to finals then. Other than that, what’s going on?
Well, his league ran and the finals results were posted online. I know how he finished, but since it’s his journal he can tell us about it. I’d like to hear about it though, as it’s much better to get an idea of what happened when you write then it is just to see a time down on a paper. Cmon man, update already!
