With all of the views on different types of stretching and therapy I was wondering if anyone focuses on alignment? I have found when working with people with chronic pain, just by fixing their alignment their pain ceases. I have been using mostly exercises from a book called Pain Free by Pete Egoscue. Here is a link:
Looks interesting. From some of the reviews I read on Amazon about the books, this method seems to be somewhat similar to the microstretching philosophy of non-strenuous, pain-free tissue manipulation. I will definitely look into it more.
I checked out one of Egoscue’s books at a book store this weekend. It looked okay, but to be honest, I didn’t see anything new in it. He achieves proper alignment through stretches and exersices that release tissue tension, which is nothing new. I guess the best part of the book is that it helps you diagnose what’s wrong in the first place, so that you know which stretches and exercises to do. For beginners it seems like a good place to start. But for the more knowledgable guys, it is probably a waste of time.
