I have a opportunity to coach Chinese athletes in China form the southern hemishere, and I obviously speak English.
How many of you have done, or do online or distance coaching to those who speak another language? And, from expericence, what have found to be the most effective method for delivering such a program that faces distance and language challanges?
The news is only 1 day old so I’m a attempting to gain as much info as I can, as quick as I can.
Am in Christchurch working with track and field athletes. Last few years has been pretty good, 11.50 and 23.52 female 100m and 200m, 52.67 400m and 56.25 400m H female. 10.68 and 21.26 male 200m too.
Am working with the Crusaders every year and am now going to take the plunge and leave my other job and do the full time strength and conditioning role next year (have half time job as lead Strength and Conditioner with NZ women’s hockey) so am filling up the rest of my days with consultancy conditioning work that İ can get.
Am interested in how the China thing came up and how you are going to do this.
Flying - Not involved in soccer at any level. I will do a search on this place, but please tell me what you know about it. What is your experiences with it?
One of my athletes recently competed at his world titles. Through his results and contacts he was invited to China to do 4wks of coaching, of which he still has 2wks to go. He has a great mindset, and people want to be near him and his influences. It’s a testament to him this opportunity has arisen.
With regards to how I am going to do - not sure! There are many questions to answer and challenges to overcome yet, so before he gets back and we discuss it further, I thought I would throw it out to the great people here and see what thoughts anyone had.
I’m getting a gut feeling it is going to need to be seriously surveyed - I mean a full business plan before any wheels start spinning.
Good luck with the coaching from another Kiwi. I coach cycling in Christchurch and although I have a growing group here I am building a list of Online Clients through word of mouth and geting involved on many cycling web sites.
Works well as I expect regular contact.
Payment is very easy through Pay Pal. They use credit card to pay Pay Pal and I can download to my NZ bank account within 2 days.
