Is the current world record reaction time 0.104? Could that be beat? Or has someone reacted faster?
Also, I am not sure if it has been talked about, but how did the 0.100 reaction time come up to be that time…isnt any movement after the gun goes off legal?
as humans beings it is impossible to react faster than .1 without anticipating the stimulus.
If they allow any movement “after the gun” everyone would be jumping or anticipating the gun which would make for a different race.
is that the amount of time it takes for the sound to travel from the gun to the ear or from the speaker system to the ear?
or is it the amount of time it takes the body to process the sound and react to it?
Or both?
good question…
id say both but when i was talking about human reaction i meant processing the sound and reacting too it.
others, thoughts?

Well I wouldn’t call it “drifting”. He went to Charlie probably thinking, IMHO correctly, that it would make him faster. According to Charlie’s post in another thread, Tim left because of outside pressure.
Question for Charlie: Can Tim continue to use your concepts with another coach? Should he?
The starting rule is based off of three things.
(you could probally break it into four, but lets just say three for now)
- The time it takes sound to reach the ears
- The time it takes to process the sound
- The time it takes for brain to send messages to body to move
Scientific breakdown
.03
.03-.08
.08-.10
Iaaf rule .10 !?
Charlie does this sound right?
