DIX 9.93 IN NCAA CHAMPS
Walter Dix, who tops the world 200m list this year with 19.69, clocked the swiftest legal 100m time of the season also with a pb of 9.93 to lead Florida State University to a successful defence of their team title in the NCAA Champs, staged in Sacramento from June 6 to 9.
He became the first man since John Carlos in 1969 to score victories in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
There were two other world-leading marks: Natasha Hastings ran 50.15 for 400m (although Nicola Sanders clocked 50.02 indoors) and Nicole Leach was timed at 54.32 for 400m hurdles, a mark simce bettered by Jamaica’s Melaine Walker (54.14).
