Monty ready for the Gardener

NEW YORK, Feb 6 (AFP) - American Tim Montgomery, the100m world record-holder, Friday declared himself readyto defy Briton Jason Gardener on his home soil, in the60m at the indoor athletics meeting in Birmingham onFebruary 20.
It's official. I'm going to the Birmingham meet withJason Gardener,'' Montgomery said at the Millrose Games,where he watched Marion Jones make a successful returnto the track some seven months after giving birth totheir son. I’m going on his turf to beat him.’’
Gardener has the best 60m time of the season - 6.50secset on January 31 at Stuttgart.
``I’m looking forward to the race, the training isgoing very well,’’ added Montgomery, who after a 2003season marked by disappointment and injury is nowtraining with Dan Pfaff, as is Jones.
While he plans one or two indoor appearances in thisOlympic year, Montgomery confirmed that he doesn’t planto compete at the world indoor championships in Budapestin March.
