Monday: Tempo

Tuesday: 6x75m starts on the curve. Felt really smooth. My coach commented that I am devoping one of the best high school starts he’s ever seen, which excites me, as that was always my weak point. Even with a cast, I feel like I have a chance to PB in the 200.

Wenesday July 16: 1200m Tempo

Thursday July 17: 5x50m Sprints, felt good on all but one. The bad one for some reason I started skating, and my foot slipped sideways. That’s not how I normally run. But the ones I did after that one felt good, so I’m not concerned. My last meet of the summer is Saturday. Just due to my dramatic increase in speed due to technical changes, I feel like I can PB in both the 55m and the 200m, and get close or maybe PB in the 100 if I run a good technical race.

Saturday July 19: Ran at the Big Sky State Games today. All chances of a PB in anything were denied once one looked at the thermometer on the track (121º F) or felt the track itself, which was so soft from the heat that it was melting on the edges. The temperature outside the track complex was 110ºF.

In the 55m, I had a terrible start, the starter fired the gun before I was completely in the set position. I got 2nd with a time of 7.2. Disappointing but I realized the times would be extremely slow today.

In the 100 I was technically shaky, popping out of the drive phase too early and stumbling slightly at 70m. I still managed to win by .2 with a time of 12.38. Every other athelete in the field ran from .5-.8 seconds slower than their PB’s, so I wasn’t extremely upset.

In the 200 I ran a very solid technical race, but didn’t realize that there was another heat and cruised the last 15m, and got 2nd by .02. My time was a normally disgusting 24.87, but again considering the conditions I felt I fared well.

I was fairly satisfied with my performance overall, cast and heat considered. I gained alot of respect from other atheletes in the state for running in a cast, which is great because I don’t think it is taking more than a couple hundredths off my time.
