In a phase like GPP, in which we don’t need max performance, it’s possible to follow a metabolic diet.
i do metabolic diet in this way:
1kg of vegetables (no potato, carrots)
150 gr pro
150 gr fat (or more if i need more kcal).
2 day high carb
why don’t you simply keep the carbs up during the high volume days and forget the metabolic?
because I think to need more carb on tempo day than High intensity day; in tempo day you burn a lot of sugar, but in the high intensity day you burn more ATP (and if the rest are long you can restore it by burning fat)
To me it seems a healthy, high protein diet, + high carbs when training with higher volume is all thats needed for a sprinter.
maybe you can go up with the fats when you don’t train at all, or when you just do weigthlifting
We found it very difficult to have enough energy on this diet. i’d think it’s best for bodybuilding etc.
thanks. so i go on a normal diet, whit a lot of fruit, vegetablle, good protein, and carbo (the mayor part when i train hard)
What are your goals nutritionally? Are you eating for optimum recovery and performance? Or are you hoping to drop some fat?
now to improve my body composition because i’m in GPP and i don’t need the maximum performance.
adding to what the others said, I don’t think cyclical lowcarb diets like this are ideal for performance unless yo’ure willing to do some strange things with your training
let the volume of training handle fat loss in GPP, create a slight deficit (at mealst NOT around training) and you’ll lean out gradually without hurting your ability to train effectively
