notice about 20m out Merritt leans backwards before he dips.

I noticed that too.

Look at the reactions, I know the race is not won on the start normally - but that is a big difference

1 5 525 Kirani James GRN 44.60 (PB) 0.137
2 4 1099 LaShawn Merritt USA 44.63 0.263

In addition to Merritt’s atrocious reaction time, he completely tied up in the last 15m.

I think Merritt lost it when he put out that 44.35 in the heats. Not having runs rounds in a few years, that had to take it’s toll.

For a man who didnt run one race all year before the wc this is a huge accomplishment.

I agree… He should be good for next year.

was actually one other time but agree. he may not get to run next year in London though.

He will have plenty of time to get back into shape (if he can) when he competes again in an international major in 2013.

On the other hand how raw is that Kirani kid…one would have to believe that he will pushing low 44s even under by London with another year of training under his belt! With his fellow countryman are we seeing a new world power developing in the mens 400m.

Sorry, I meant to post this on the 800 thread.

I think Kirani May have the ability to get close to the wr. If he builds more 200m speed on top off that endurance he may become un touchable within the next few years.
