Medicine Ball Work (p.32 CFTS)

Thanks Clemson, good link. I had read one or two articles on sledgehammering before, but I had never read that one.

I think sledgehammering for low-intensity core work is probably not that different from medicine ball low-intensity core work, but after reading the article it made me realize we have to be careful with both. They are very different then something like depletion pushups because they fatigue the core a lot. So I think every athlete who wants to use either method has to be very careful in judging the fatigue that it puts upon them, or it will be draining to the nervous system, which is the last thing we’re looking for on a low-intensity day.

Charlie will more medicine ball exercises be in your new training manual. Since I dont have the videos yet could you please explain some of high intenisity med ball exercises compared to low intensity. Would med ball acc’s and med ball throws be considered high or low intensity? I am stilled confussed about this.

I am confused on when/where to place med ball work in a program? Before weight workouts, after a track workout? Need some help, I dont use med ball work in my program right now, but I would like to incorporate it in…

Can someone explain medicine ball accels again? You crouch down and expload forward throwing the ball and sprint correct?

We do ours the same as an underhand (between the legs cradle) throw for height and distance and explode out and accelerate for 10 meters.

I’m interested in this type of work for abs so the type 1.
What are the exercises of this approach??

Charlie Francis, You recommend in the MB download that using more than 4-6kg MB as any heavier is too much for your wrists/hands. One question I have been meaning to ask for a while is I understand exercise is individual, but if you are using leather MBs and it does not hurt your wrists and hands is using heavier( 7-9 kg) weight MBs for the high vol/low intensity exercises also too much for your CNS? I have progressed through your workouts with the exception of those darn “circles around the head” which kill me and want to make if if I go heavier I not getting too much of CNS stimulus on low days.

Charlie Jenks

Prob could if you can get a GOOD leather MB. the Everlast ones are crap as they are always out of round and out of balance, making throws unpredictable.

Why increase ball weight just increase total work volume…

Or just throw slightly harder or faster.

in gpp dvd the exercise of “power” is the exercise who perform the girl, while the exercise to endurance the boy, is right?
but the reps who is writed in gpp is less of 200 por set. I don’t understand it.
4x 10 (8) of power, and 20 throw x endurance (set depends) o ihave missed anything’

I purchased a few of Lineaus athletic leather MBs that Istvan " Steve" Javorek recommended. Most people would say they are way too expensive…
They are old time hand made MBs that I figure if I am going to be doing MB exercises for the rest of my life, they are definitely worth it in the long run.

What constitutes as a “low intensity medball throw”? I would think any throw would have to be as hard as possible, or it wouldn’t really be worthwhile?

covered in GPP DVD

Yep i agree 100% and the med ball dvd and cfts.
